Historical information and documentation regarding nationalist and patriotic organisations
Queensland Immigration Control Association
Brief description
Dr. John Dique
The Queensland Immigration Control Association was founded by citizens who were opposed to changes made in the Immigration Act in 1966 that enabled a higher immigration rate of non-Europeans, and campaigned for many years against non-white immigration into Australia. Its President was Dr. John Dique. [1]
The QICA was a conservative patriotic organisation, promoting ties to the British monarchy, loyalty to the Australian flag, support for white South Africa, and putting forward a belief in a British basis for Australia's culture and national identity.
The Queensland Immigration Control Association spilt from the national Immigration Control Association (led by Robert Clark) in 1975. The parent ICA finally closed around August 1982. The Queensland Immigration Control Association, published the newsletter News and Views (Queensland), until the organisation faded away in the 1990s.
